Abstract Landscape 4"x5" oil painting

I am Hooked! I have been dragging my feet about painting these small paintings, but all of a sudden it all came together. What a great way to try new and different ways to paint. All kinds of ideas are here all of a sudden. For a very long time now I have learned the most from my own work (challenged by my mistakes) What an opportunity to expand my learning and ability. Here is a new one a small canvas 4"x5" gallery wrap." Canyon floor". Painted in oils and sealed with a gloss finish. I list my paintings on ebay. There is a link in the sidebar to ebay and here is one to me if you would like to purchase one that is not listed on ebay. Contact me at phyljan@aol.com

California landscape

I paint every day, but I don't finish a painting a day. It always seems to take me longer. I always see something new to add. I need to keep on untill I "feel" that it is finished. This is a little landscape painted on primed hardboard. The size is 5"x7". You can purchase this painting by emailing me at phyljan@aol.com.

Skeleton Woman

This is a watercolor painting that I painted a while ago. It is a combination of a cow skull and a woman in a red blanket. She is a Native American that represents all women. I believe"Skeleton Woman" is a powerful image of the strength and resourcefulness of women. The size of this original watercolor is 23"x33" unframed, it is mounted on foamcore for stability.

New Mexico Sky

The size of this original oil painting is 12"x16" unframed, it is painted on canvas. The New Mexico sky is often just this color and the light allows the color of the canyons to glow as the sun sets. I miss this so paint it often. California sky does not have the same intensity of color. sold

The floor of the Canyon

It seems to have been a very long time since I posted here. I am going to try to do it more often. I have moved to the Sacramento area. This part of California is very different than the bay area. But I am getting used to it. The light here is yellow and red. I have been doing some little paintings to get back into the swing of things. Some have turned out to be ok. It amazes me that every time that I am unable to paint for a time of more than a few weeks that the painting changes. (or is it me?) This little painting is 4"x5" unframed, it is a gallery wrap canvas and is painted around the sides. It is ready to fame. My reference for this little abstract was the floor of Canyon de Chelly in the Navajo Reservation. Standing on the rim at the end of the day.
